Early date struck at the Durango Mint (mint mark Do), assayer RL. Rare date variety with extended "foot" on numeral nine in date. Unable to find a die match anywhere. Dunigan Do06: "This date is scarce. Normally only Fine to Very Fine and often crudely struck. This date is difficult to obtain in better than Very Fine." Certified by NGC to XF 40. Well struck and colorfully toned, very pleasing in hand.
