It was great because it was basically just more powerful than anything else in Standard, and I was gratified in the months following this event to see people win numerous events with the deck
I just think this is such a neat design, as you can basically create an incredible, multiplicative army by casting a few spells
Also, the ramp effect is not to underestimate, giving tempo decks mana advantage in the early turns will lead to more spells being played and increases the disruption and threat density tempo can represent to close out the game even more quickly
