Card selection, which doesnt put you up a card but allows you to make some choices about the cards you do draw, isnt quite as good, but it can become so if its easier and/or cheaper to use or if it synergizes, and it provides a discard outlet
One might say, well, thats unoriginalits the same mechanic, but bigger. Thats a fair point, but I think Eternalize is brilliant design
