Finisher spells and other wincons need a bunch of mana to get going, and reliable access to 10+ mana in the mid to late game becomes the goal, with many decks opting to aim higher if they can

However, you can't forget that one successful experience, and in the next match and the one after that, you keep chasing that single success, convincing yourself with excuses like "My deck shouldn't be bad" or "It worked before, so it should work again." Even then, by continuing to fail, you start describing the fact that you failed nine out of ten times as a "loss due to bad luck." That is not bad luck

In other words, we get 3-4 mana worth of value each time we cast a noncreature spell large enough to draw two cards (not to mention Hero tokens)
