That gives you more permanent mana, and since lands are hard to remove, your ramp is safe during most games
Or the fact that you can transfer Astrologian's Planisphere to a real creature since its an equipment, or to a creature that has synergies with +1/+1 counters placed put on it
How many people are needed to play one game
Where it struggles is with a lack of artifacts and enchantments, and 40 total lands that feel a little overkill, especially when you could find other ways to produce mana if needed

Some players dont like when a counter spell has the ability to counter it built in, but in my experience you either get the counter, or you screw up a turns mana unless the opponent had an overabundance of mana anyway
