First off, way too many people are still not playing enough lands in their Commander decks

By bending the spoons it hold in its hands, Alakazam delivers its signature move known as Kinesis to significantly reduce the accuracy of opposing attacks

it also ensures opponents cant gain life, similar to our commander, The Lord of Blood

A whole lot of Pokemon card artists did the same thing during this time, moving closer to a house style and ironing out the sketchier stuff

Not to mention setting you up to be virtually unkillable through combat damage for quite some time
