I think you're right though that the first version might be better suited, especially in proactive Decks
That is a very charming iteration of a cockatrice, by the way -- a lot of Cockatrice interpretations, if they even remember that the creature's supposed to be a chicken, go all-in on making a creepy scary bird

While not as valuable as the cards mentioned above, you can never feel bad cracking a fetch land from a booster pack of Magic, and I expect these to remain over $10 despite the reprint, with old-bordered variants commanding a nice premium
