It might pop up if something turns out to be a fun combo, but if the point of the combo is adding mana, it might not do too much
A huge creature with reach, trample, and cascade is certainly worth paying 7 mana for even if its countered
You can then tap it and remove it the counter on it to add the exact amount of mana you spent to attach the counter and card in the first place, and then that mana can only be used to cast the card attached to Ice Cauldron
Think about that against something like Wailord TR thats 170 damage for one Energy
You see this objectively with the Battle-Shadows year, but the same scheme was used for Khans-Dragons the year before (even though that was technically the last three-set block)
This card could see play in a casual or themed deck where the art theme is a central focus, adding a fun and flavorful element to gameplay
